How you can accelerate your Self-Worth

How to raise your Self esteem & Self worth

In my experience of helping clients through Reiki, Hypnotherapy and Rapid Transformational Therapy, I have learned that underneath the majority of our issues, we just want to feel deserving, worthy, accepted, lovable, and connected. And that is your birthright! You should feel good about yourself, believe in yourself, love yourself, and you deserve all the beautiful things that life has to offer, and it is absolutely achievable. You can learn how to raise your self esteem & self worth. You are not born with these beliefs about yourself, you didn’t come into the world feeling unlovable, or unworthy, therefore you acquired these beliefs and feelings about yourself and if you acquired them then you can also let them go because you know that they are no longer serving you. They are holding you back from living the life that you deserve, and from being the person that you know is in there, just hiding, but waiting to emerge strong, empowered with a new sense of self-worth and feeling deserving of the best that life has to offer.

What is Self-Worth?

Self-worth is defined in merriam-webster as: “a sense of one’s own value as a human being.” Your self-worth is not based on your bank account, your job or how big your house and car is or anything external. Regardless of what you have or what is happening in your life, you will hold a high opinion of yourself. Self-worth is at the very root of who we are, our feelings, thoughts and behaviours are intertwined into how deserving and worthy we feel about ourselves.

Signs of low self-worth

There are signs to look out for to discover whether you have low self-worth, below is a few examples to help you understand and gain more insight, and then learn how to build self worth.

You don’t feel you are deserving

We can block ourselves from getting the very things that we want to achieve in life by having an underlining limiting belief that we don’t deserve those things. Are your feelings of worthiness tied up in how much you earn and your achievements in life? If they are then this means that you only feel deserving and worthy if you earn a certain amount or achieve a certain level of success.

You don’t trust or believe in yourself

Searching for outside validation is a sure sign of low self-worth. Wanting others to praise you or seek their approval shows that you don’t believe in yourself or believe that you have those qualities. Seeking external approval is abit like shopping to cheer yourself up, it’s a temporary fleeting relief from how you are actually feeling, and it won’t help the bigger issue.

How to raise your Self esteem & Self worth

  • Get to know yourself….

If you don’t know who you really are, how will you ever be able to determine your own self-worth? Imagine if you had everything taken away, all of your achievements, your finances, your friends, career, and possessions. What if all I had left was just myself? How would that make me feel? What is inside of you that has value? What is your worth? How you actually feel about yourself when everything has been taken away is your level of self-worth. Your self-worth is not measured by what you have or what you do but who you are.

Ask yourself these questions…

Who am I? How do others see me? What fulfils me? What abilities do I have? What am I really good at? What strengths do I have? Uncovering the answers to these questions will give you greater insight to who you are and what value you have.

  • Accepting yourself for who you are…

As you dig a little deeper you will find aspects of yourself that you really like, and others that you may have a more difficult time accepting. We are all human beings with our own flaws, and no-one is perfect. We all make mistakes, or have bad habits or struggles, but we can and do learn from them. We make decisions and choices based on the information and feelings we had at the time, and although reflecting back we may choose something different its important to forgive ourselves and others for those mistakes.

By forgiving ourselves and others it helps us move on and become more accepting and aids us in our own personal growth. With the answers to the questions that you asked yourself in step 1 repeat these statements to yourself:

  1. I accept myself for who I am and every part of myself, including all of my imperfections, fears, and behaviours.
  2. This is who I am, and I feel at peace.

  • Love yourself

Self-love is about loving and treating yourself with the same respect and kindness that you would treat your best friend. Pay attention to the words and tone that you use with yourself, concentrate on speaking to yourself with more uplifting words like you would do with a friend. Practising affirmations are a sure way of quickly building up your self-worth

Choose a few affirmations from below if you like that really resonate with you:

  • I feel lovable
  • I am worthy
  • I love myself
  • I am capable
  • My self-value is unconditional
  • I am deserving
  • I believe in myself

You can say these affirmations daily as often as you like, or even for only 5 minutes daily for a minimum of 21 days, you could really start to notice the difference in how you feel about yourself.
