How to have a positive mindsetHow to be positive?

I have been reading some articles about positive thoughts and how to be positive, and there are some misconceptions about this. Having a positive mindset is not about never having a negative thought ever again! Nor is it about pushing a negative thought to the side, ignoring it, or covering them up by keeping yourself distracted with the hope it will disappear. The more you do this the stronger your thoughts become.

“What consumes your mind, controls your life.”

Negative thoughts breed more negative thoughts which then affects your emotional state and draws negative situations and people into your life.

You may not even realise that you are thinking negatively about yourself or other people, which is why it’s a good idea to monitor what you are constantly thinking about on a daily basis.

Maybe you feel that what you are thinking about isn’t even negative as you are just stating the truth about how you feel as it is a “fact.”

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, your right.” Henry Ford.

How to be positive

You can re-train your mind how to be positive about yourself, your capabilities, to become more understanding of situations and people around you. To start believing that you are capable of accomplishing anything, that you are good enough, beautiful, healthy, and that you are deserving of a happy relationship.

“Train your mind to see the good in everything. Positivity is a choice. The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.”

How to be positive and retrain your mind

If you repetitively say negative things about yourself or a situation then your subconscious mind will believe this and make sure that the events come about to make this come to life.

If you feed your subconscious positive words and images, equally your subconscious will respond to these, and make your positive thoughts come about.

For example, if you think negatively about your body, then change this by repeating on a daily basis –

  • I am fit and healthy
  • My body is strong and healthy
  • I am at a perfect weight for my size
  • I love my body
  • I am slim
  • I am beautiful
  • My skin is so smooth
  • My hair is so shiny

Even though you may not believe it at the time, your subconscious mind will believe anything you tell it until it becomes a normal way of thinking, and a new routine pattern of behaviour.

Stay strong with this as it takes time to retrain your brain, but it will soon become automatic like driving or learning a new system at work.

What happens when you are positive?

After you do this for a while you will find that your immediate response to situations and people will come from a positive, loving and understanding place. Your experiences and circumstances will change as you are putting out love and positive thoughts, therefore you will receive this back into your life.

You will find that you want to start exercising, and putting nutritious foods into your body, and you realise you are actually at the perfect weight, and that you do love your body.

You can practice this with any part of your life that you feel needs improvement. When you begin this practice, you will find that your first thoughts start to be brighter than they were before. You start to see the good in every situation, you see connections in your life, you see the good qualities in other people. Your outlook on the world changes and so your world changes.

Never underestimate the power of your thoughts. You are what you believe.
